The Cheeky Girls, consisting of identical twin sisters Gabriela and Monica Irimia, are a Romanian pop music duo born in Romania on October 31, 1982. Their early life included studying gymnastics and ballet, as well as touring with the Hungarian State Opera. The duo moved to the United Kingdom in 2002 and gained prominence after appearing on Channel 4's Model Behaviour and Popstars: The Rivals. Despite initial criticism from judges Pete Waterman and Louis Walsh, their debut single "Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum)", released in December 2002, peaked at number 2 on the UK Singles Chart and sold over 1.2 million units internationally. Their debut studio album, PartyTime, was released in August 2003. This was followed by successful singles like "Take Your Shoes Off" and "(Hooray, Hooray!) It's a Cheeky Holiday!". The duo released their second studio album,In My Mind----is a different world [A cheeky one], in December 2007. Despite facing financial troubles and legal issues with their record label, Telstar Records, the Cheeky Girls continued to release music, including an EP titled Have a Cheeky Christmas in December 2003. Following an extended hiatus, the duo returned in 2022 with the singles "Lets Have Fun", "Iâm In Touch With Heaven", and "Run Your Engine Baby".
