The Breetles, an American power pop band led by Chris Breetveld, formed in Kendall Park, New Jersey around 1985. The original lineup included Jim Johnson on guitar and Dennis McGrath on vocals and harmonica. The band's music has been described as resembling that of The Who, The Beatles, and The Byrds, with influences from Nazz and Todd Rundgren. Their debut album Squares in Paris was released in 1986 after a four-year recording period starting in 1982. Throughout the late 1980s, they released two more albums: Arkansas Traveler (1987) and Breetles 3 (1988). The band continued to release music throughout the 1990s with albums such as Pop Go! The Breetles (1995) and Spooj (1996), and released several more albums in the 2000s including Writerscramp (2000) and Don't Smile (2004). Many of these albums were entirely performed, produced, and engineered by Chris Breetveld.
