The Balloon Farm is an American musical group originating from New Jersey. The band formed after two of its members, Don Henny and Ed Schnug, who had previously played together in a band called Adam, joined forces with Mike Appel and Jay David Saks. They adopted the name "The Balloon Farm" and released their first single "A Question of Temperature" in October 1967, which initially contained a typographical error rendering it "A Question of Tempature". The song reached number 37 on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 1968. However, their follow-up single "Hurry Up Sundown" did not achieve similar success, leading to their drop by Laurie Records before they could release an entire album. Despite this setback, one of their unreleased songs, "Sunshine Rides on a Trolley", was recorded in Australia by Robbie Snowden and became a moderate hit in 1967. The following year, the band resurfaced under the name Huck Finn with the single "Two of a Kind" before disbanding shortly thereafter. Several members went on to notable careers; Mike Appel managed Bruce Springsteen, Jay David Saks produced Broadway shows and Metropolitan Opera presentations, and producer Peter Schekeryk became Melanie's manager and husband.
