Biography
The Amenta, an Australian extreme metal band, formed in 1997 as Crucible of Agony in Baulkam Hills, Sydney. They released two demos under that name before renaming to The Amenta in 2001 and releasing their first extended play, Mictlan (2002). In 2003, they signed with Listenable Records and released their debut studio album, Occasus (2004), which was acclaimed by rock magazine Kerrang! and awarded Best Metal Newcomers for 2004. Their lineup evolved over the years, with notable members including Mark Bevan (Cesium 137) on vocals, Erik Miehs (Ethion) on guitar, and Timothy Pope (Chlordane) on keyboards. The Amenta released subsequent albums n0n (2008) and Flesh Is Heir (2013). They toured extensively across Europe, Australia, and North America, supporting acts like Deicide and Behemoth. After going on an indefinite hiatus in 2013, they reunited in 2020 and released Revelator (2021).
