Biography

Stress is the stage name of Swiss rapper Andres Andrekson, born in the city of Tallinn on July 25, 1977. At the age of 12, he moved with his family to Switzerland and settled down in Lausanne, where he became a member of the seminal hip-hop group Double Pact. Billy Bear, his solo debut, arrived in 2003 and marked a major breakthrough for the rapper, reaching Number 20 on the Swiss charts and receiving gold certification. Follow-up album 25.07.03 appeared in 2005 and entered the domestic Top 10 at Number 3. In 2007, Stress scored his first Number 1 record with Reinassance, a feat he repeated with his subsequent albums Des rois, des pions et des fous (2009), Renaissance II (2011), and Noël’s Room (2012), recorded with Noah Veraguth and Bastian Baker. Released in 2014, the eponymous album Stress went to Number 3 in Switzerland and was followed by Sincèrement five years later. In 2022, his tenth studio effort Libertad climbed to Number 5 on the domestic charts thanks to the success of the Stefanie Heinzmann collaboration "Just Like I Love You," which in turn reached Number 58.
