Biography

Mélanie Georgiades, better known as Diam's, was born on July 25, 1980 in Nicosia (Cyprus). When her parents divorced, the young girl moved to the Paris suburbs with her mother, spending her childhood in Les Ulis. It was here that she was introduced to rap, and from 1994 onwards, she made a name for herself with numerous freestyles and featurings. After the promising album Premier Mandat in 1999, Diam's became a veritable phenomenon in 2003 with the single "DJ " and the album Brut de Femme. Having become the first female star of French rap, Diam's followed this up in 2006 with the album Dans ma Bulle and the song "La Boulette ", both of which reached the top of the charts. Diam's then suffered from depression, which she was unable to completely overcome with her third album, SOS, in 2009. Converted to Islam in 2008 and a mother since 2012, Diam's devotes herself to her personal life and her faith, with no sign of returning to rap and music.
