Biography
Breitbild is a Swiss hip-hop group from the canton of Graubünden, formed in 1999. The lineup consists of rappers Andri Perl, Valerio "Vali" Priuli, Thomas "Thom" Businger, Claudio "Hyphen" Candinas, and DJ Jäger. Performing in the Swiss German dialect of Graubünden, the group is known for combining hip-hop with elements of funk and jazz. Their 2006 album Legenda reached number 13 on the Swiss Albums Chart. Originally founded by around 15 teenagers, Breitbild later became a core five-member act. Their lyrics address themes including love, politics, and everyday life, emphasizing clear, direct storytelling. As members of the Bauers collective, they helped promote Swiss dialect rap alongside other regional artists. Breitbild has released several albums, including As isch nid immer alles crazy (2008) and Breitbild (2016), and has earned multiple Swiss music and cultural awards, including the 2006 Slangnacht Award for Best Rap Combo and the 2020 Recognition Award of the Canton of Graubünden.
