Biography

Squad Five-O, an American punk rock band from Savannah, Georgia, was founded by brothers Jeff and John Fortson. The group initially formed as a high-school band called Gypsy Rose before evolving through several names and sounds. Their breakthrough came with the release of What I Believe in 1997, which included the controversial track "Our State Flag Sucks." Despite facing bans from Christian bookstores due to its lyrical content, the album won HM Magazine's reader's choice award for "Favorite New Artist of 1997." The band released several albums including Fight the System (1998), Bombs Over Broadway (2000), and their self-titled album (2002). They transitioned from a small indie Christian label to Capitol Records, shifting their style significantly over time. The band later released the 2004 album Late News Breaking.
