Biography
Springbok Nude Girls, a South African rock band from Cape Town, formed in 1994. The group introduced a blend of alternative rock, punk rock, ska, acid jazz, and heavy metal to the youth of South Africa. Their first significant gig was in September 1994 at Stellenbosch. Springbok Nude Girls released their debut album Neanderthal 1 in 1995. In 2000, the band received a South African Music Award for Best Rock Album for Surpass the Powers (1999). They were also voted the Best Rock Band in South Africa in a poll conducted by South African radio station 5FM. After an indefinite hiatus starting in 2001, Springbok Nude Girls reunited in 2006 and released their album Peace Breaker in 2007.
