Sporty Thievz, an American hip-hop group from Yonkers, New York, was formed in 1997 and originally consisted of King Kirk (a.k.a. Thieven Stealburg), Big Dubez (a.k.a. Safecracker), and Marlon Bryant Brando (a.k.a. Robin Hood). The trio gained initial recognition with their parody of TLC's hit "No Scrubs", titled "No Pigeons", which offered a male perspective on relationships. Their debut album, Street Cinema, was released in 1998 under Roc-A-Bloc/Ruffhouse Records and featured production by Ski, known for his work on Jay-Z's Reasonable Doubt. The album had a unique concept where each track told its own story, similar to a movie premise. In 2000, Sporty Thievz contributed to the Rawkus Records compilation Hip Hop for Respect, a project in protest of the police shooting of Amadou Diallo. On May 11, 2001, Marlon Bryant Brando was killed in a car accident, marking a significant loss for the group. Despite this tragedy, Sporty Thievz continued to release music posthumously, including various mixtapes and albums such as Foot Locker (2023).
