Biography

East Coast hip-hop heavy-hitters Lost Boyz made an immediate impact with their debut single "Lifestyles of the Rich & Shameless" in 1995, making it onto the Billboard Hot 100 and scoring a deal with Uptown Records. A debut gold-selling album, Legal Drug Money, came in 1996 and yielded five Hot 100 hits, including "Music Makes Me High", "Jeeps, Lex Coups, Bimaz & Benz", "Get Up" and gold-selling "Renee" – the hit single from the Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood soundtrack. The group, hailing from South Jamaica, Queens, New York City, was originally comprised of MC Mr. Cheeks, the late Freaky Kah and K Chrys. In 1997, they dropped their second album Love, Peace & Nappiness containing "Beasts from the East" featuring A+, Redman, and Canibus, but tragedy struck two years later when Freaky Tah was shot dead in Queens. The three remaining members dropped their third album, LB IV Life, that year but the group started to fall apart. Cheeks became immersed in a solo career during the 2000s and the group released Forever, a collection of Lost Boyz hits, rarities, and unreleased tracks, in 2005. Made up of Mr. Cheeks, K Chrys and Freaky Tah's son Freaky Kah, the Lost Boyz reassembled as a new unit in 2019 for Next Generation. The Lost Boyz released the Legacy EP in 2020.
