Biography

The Soul Captain Band, a Finnish reggae group from Helsinki, was formed in 1997 by Jukka Poika, Seppo Salmi, Tommi Tikkanen, and brothers Jori and Kari Hulkkonen. The band released their first EP, Soul Captain Band, in 1999, followed by their debut album Jokaiselle Tulta in 2001, which entered the top 10 of the Finnish album charts. In 2002, Jukka Poika left to pursue solo projects and Antti Hakala became the new lead singer. The band continued with the release of Tanssijan Valinta in 2004, featuring the top 10 single "Vauvantekohomma." Following this period, the group operated as a loose collective under various names, including Sound Explosion Band, and continued to tour and collaborate with different artists.
