Enrique Ugalde, born April 1, 1971 in San Bernardino, California, is an American singer and multi-instrumentalist known as Soriah. Growing up in Oakland, he began his musical journey with opera and classical singing before shifting towards experimental music influenced by the goth subculture. In 1995, Ugalde adopted the name Soriah for his project involving looped vocals and ambient electronics. His music blended traditional forms like Tuvan throat singing with avant-garde styles such as industrial and ambient. He released his first album, Chao Organica in A Minor, in 2006. Subsequent releases include Ofrendas De Luz A Los Muertos (2007) and Atlan (2009). He won the title of Best Foreigner at the 2008 Ustuu-Khuree Festival in Chadanaa Tuva, placed third at the International Throat Singing Symposium that same year, and received several other awards for his throat singing. Soriah toured extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and Mexico.
