Biography

Cromagnon was an American experimental music band active during the late 1960s, originating from New York City. Led by multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriters Austin Grasmere and Brian Elliot, Cromagnon's only release was the album Orgasm in 1969, which was later reissued as Cave Rock. The band is noted for combining psychedelia, folk rock, sampling, sound effect experimentation, and noise with primitive instrumentation. Despite not achieving commercial success, their song "Caledonia" received significant recognition. Pitchfork Media ranked it at Number 163 on their list of "The 200 Greatest Songs of the 1960s," and Treble included it in "A History of Industrial Music in 45 Songs."
