Biography

Amy Duncan is a Scottish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. She began her musical journey as a classically trained double bass player, studying at both the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. After playing double bass in experimental band Swelling Meg, Duncan released her debut album Pilgrimage in 2006 on Plain Recordings. Between 2007 and 2010, she independently released two more albums: Story of a Girl (2007) and Potential-Space (2010). In December 2012, Linn Records signed Duncan, leading to the release of her fourth album Cycles of Life in 2013. Her subsequent releases include Undercurrents (2016), Antidote (2017), and The Hidden World (2020). Notable achievements include the track "My Dad" from Story of a Girl winning Burnsong 2007, and the sync placement of "Natural" from Potential-Space on the television series Charmed.
