Solitude Aeturnus is an epic doom metal band from Dallas, Texas, formed in 1987 under the name Solitude by guitarist John Perez after he left the thrash metal band Rotting Corpse. The initial lineup included drummer Brad Kane, vocalist Kris Gabehardt, guitarist Tom Martinez, and bassist Chris Hardin. The group recorded its first demo, Justice for All, in January 1988. Following lineup changes, the band renamed itself to Solitude Aeturnus in 1989. Its debut studio album, Into the Depths of Sorrow, was released in July 1991 under Roadrunner Records. The second album, Beyond the Crimson Horizon, was recorded in March 1992 and released in July 1992, followed by a US tour with Paul Di'Anno's band Killers in November 1992. After signing with Pavement Music, the band released Through the Darkest Hour in August 1994. Subsequent studio albums include Downfall (1996), Adagio (1998), which the members considered their masterpiece, Alone (2006), and the compilation In Times of Solitude (2010).
