Solid Space was a British minimal wave band formed in 1980 by Matthew "Maf" Vosburgh and Dan Goldstein, who met at age 11. The duo had previously been involved with the new wave band Exhibit A and founded Irrelevant Wombat Records at age 14. Their music drew heavily from science fiction, particularly the television series Doctor Who. After forming Solid Space, they spent a couple of years recording with contributions from Jonathan "Jon Winegum" Weinreich. The band's sole release featuring all their material, Space Museum, was issued on cassette in 1982 through In Phaze Records. Following its release, the group disbanded. Despite remaining underground, Solid Space influenced the development of minimal wave and related electronic music genres.
