Biography

Society of Soul was an R&B group from the United States, formed by members of Organized Noize—Sleepy Brown, Rico Wade, and Ray Murray—as well as Espraronza Brown and Big Rube. The group emerged from the vibrant Atlanta music scene, known for its influential role in shaping Southern hip-hop and R&B. Society of Soul released their debut album Brainchild in 1995, which included notable singles "Pushin'" and "Embrace." The group's music career was marked by collaborations with other prominent artists from the Atlanta hip-hop scene, including OutKast and Goodie Mob, further solidifying their place in the region's rich musical tapestry. Society of Soul's contributions helped define the sound of 1990s R&B, blending smooth vocals with hard-hitting beats, and left a lasting impact on the genre despite not achieving mainstream chart success.
