Skrewdriver, an English punk rock band, was formed in 1976 in Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire, by Ian Stuart Donaldson. Initially a punk rock outfit, Skrewdriver released their debut album All Skrewed Up and two singles on Chiswick Records. The original lineup included Kevin McKay on bass and John Grinton on drums. After disbanding in 1979, the band reformed in 1982 with Donaldson leading a new lineup that adopted an openly nationalist ideology. This iteration of Skrewdriver released several albums, including Hail the New Dawn (1984) and "White Power" (1983), which became associated with white nationalist groups. The band played a significant role in the Rock Against Communism movement and was linked to organizations like the National Front and British National Party. Skrewdriver's impact on the punk rock scene was marked by their controversial stance, which led to both support and criticism. Donaldson died in a car crash in 1993, leading to the band's eventual demise.
