Silk Route was an Indian pop band formed in 1996, consisting of Mohit Chauhan (lead vocals, backing guitars, lyrics), Atul Mittal (lead guitars, clarinet, backing vocals), Kem Trivedi (keyboards), and Kenny Puri (percussion and drums). The band was known for their unique sound, influenced by artists like Sting, Simon & Garfunkel, and Dire Straits, and for incorporating instruments like acoustic guitars, talking drums, harmonica, and the recorder. Silk Route gained significant attention with their album Boondein in 1998, which featured the hit song "Dooba-Dooba". This success led to opportunities in the Indian film industry, including scoring and performing songs for movies such as Kalpana Lajmi's Kyon, Lets Enjoy, and Urf Professor. The band released Pehchan in 2000 before disbanding in 2002.
