Sara Hjellström, known professionally as Shy Martin, was born on November 5, 1993, in Lerdala, Sweden. She began writing songs at a young age and signed with EMI at 17 after winning a school music contest. After studying songwriting at Musikmakarna in Ãrnsköldsvik, she moved to Stockholm and signed with BLNK Music. Shy Martin's breakthrough came as a songwriter with Mike Perry's "The Ocean (ft. Shy Martin)", which won the Most Streamed Song of the Year award in 2017. Her career as a lead vocalist took off in 2017 with the release of "Good Together", followed by her debut EP, Overthinking, in December 2018 and second EP Sad Songs in August 2020, which garnered over 120 million streams in streaming platforms. She released the single, "wish I didn't know you," in October 2022, followed by the album, late night thoughts, in May 2023.
