Biography

Sharon Forrester was born in 1956 in Kingston, Jamaica, and began singing in church choirs from the age of six. She first gained attention with the 1973 single "Silly Wasn't I", produced by Geoffrey Chung and backed by his Now Generation Band, and performed alongside The Wailers at the Ethiopian Benefit Concert that same year. Her debut album Sharon was released in 1974, largely recorded in the United Kingdom during a musicians’ strike, and the same year she appeared in the BFI film Moon Over the Alley with Danny Ray. After a period of intermittent recording, she returned to prominence with the 1994 single "Love Inside", which entered the UK Top 50, and released the album This Time in 1996. Throughout her career she collaborated with artists such as Alpha Blondy, Burning Spear, Jimmy Cliff, The Heptones, and Yami Bolo, contributing guest and backing vocals to numerous international projects.
