Biography

As one of the most famous basketball players ever to have graced the NBA, Shaquille O'Neal's professional sports career needs little introduction. However, his talent doesn't stop there. Born in Newark, New Jersey on March 6, 1972, O'Neal enjoyed a solid career as a musician, beginning in 1993 with the release of his debut platinum-selling album Shaq Diesel. The album featured guest appearances from respected artists including Def Jef, Phife Dawg and Fu-Schnickens. Throughout the 1990s, O'Neal went on to release three more studio albums; Shaq Fu: Da Return (1994) You Can't Stop the Reign (1996) and Respect (1998). O'Neal has also appeared as a guest rapper on "2 Bad", a song from Michael Jackson's 1995 album HIStory and was featured on Aaron Carter's 2001 hit single "That's How I Beat Shaq". During the 1980s, O'Neal added another string to his bow in the form of DJing and producing electronic music, calling himself DIESEL. O'Neal's most recent music release came out in 2017; a diss track aimed at LaVar Ball, the father of NBA point guard Lonzo Ball.
