Biography

Scapegoat Wax, an American hip hop and breakbeat band from Chico, California, was formed by Marty James and Jonny Z (AKA J.DeVille). The group initially gained attention with their single "Aisle 10 (Hello Allison)", which achieved moderate success in the US. This track was featured on the soundtracks of Jet Set Radio Future and Project Gotham Racing. Scapegoat Wax released several albums during their active years, including Luxurious (1999), Okeeblow (2001), and Swax (2002). The band was associated with several labels, including Grand Royal Records and Hollywood Records. Notable songs from this period include "Almost Fine" and "Lost Cause". After disbanding in 2002, Scapegoat Wax reunited in October 2021 to release their album Atomic Slam (Back to 99!) in 2022, featuring singles such as "Around Midnight" and "Kick Ya Feet Up".
