Biography
Satellite Stories was a Finnish indie pop band from Oulu that was active between 2008 and 2018. The ensemble consisted of the vocalist Esa Mankinen, the lead guitarist Marko Heikkinen, the bassist Jyri Pesonen, and the drummer Olli-Pekka Ervasti. They achieved a career breakthrough in 2012 with their debut studio album, Phrases to Break the Ice, which was released through the label XYZ Berlin and led to a publishing deal with BMG. The group received significant praise from British music publications including NME, Q, and Clash, and their single âCampfireâ (2013) reached Number 1 on the Hype Machine blog chart. Their discography includes the studio albums Pine Trails (2013), Vagabonds (2015), and Young Detectives (2017). The ensembleâs final studio recording, Cut Out the Lights, was released in 2018 before the band disbanded later that year.
