Sarah Louise "Saritah" Newman, born in Seoul, South Korea, is an Australian-based singer-songwriter and musician. Raised in Perth, Australia, she began playing piano at six years old and started songwriting on guitar at 15. Inspired by Malian musician Rokia Traoré, Saritah embarked on her music career. In 2000, she collaborated with Nathan "Floods" Winterflood to release the EP Saritah. Her debut studio album, Gratitude, was issued independently in May 2004. Saritah performed at the Perth leg of the Big Day Out in 2006 and released her second album, Ancient Forward, in August 2009. She toured extensively from 2005 to 2009, performing over 400 live shows. Her third album, Dig Deep, was released in November 2012 via MGM Distribution, featuring the single "Tears of Joy".
