Pandit Sanjeev Chimmalgi was born on July 29, 1972, in Mumbai, India. He is a Hindustani vocalist and music composer from a family with a rich musical heritage; his grandfather, Chimmalgi Master, was a noted tabla player. Chimmalgi began his training under Madhava Gudi before studying under C. R. Vyas. Chimmalgi's career includes notable performances in cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Indore, Kolkata, Miraj, and Nagpur. He has released several albums, including Quest (2003) and Remembering Gunijaan: A Tribute to Pandit C R Vyas (2008). His contributions have earned him multiple awards, such as the Best Male Playback Singing for the Marathi film Aai Shappath in 2007, and the Sangeetha Shiromani Award from 2005 to 2006.
