Biography

Pandit Anindo Chatterjee, born on May 30, 1954, in Kashimpur Village, Duttapukur, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, India, is a percussionist and tabla player of the Farrukhabad Gharana. He began playing the tabla at age five, inspired by his uncle Pandit Biswanath Chatterjee. Chatterjee studied briefly under Ustad Afaq Hussain Khan of the Lucknow Gharana before advancing to study under Pandit Jnan Prakash Ghosh for three decades. Chatterjee's career includes solo performances and recordings, as well as collaborations with notable musicians such as Pandit Ravi Shankar, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. His discography spans several albums, including Raga, Baul Melody & Tabla Solo (1982), Fabulous Flute of Hariprasad Chaurasia (1985), and Air (2007). He received the President's Award in 1970 and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2002. In November 2010, he performed at Rashtrapati Bhavan during U.S. President Barack Obama's visit to India.
