Born in Chicago, Illinois on January 13, 1987, Same Dew is a hip-hop and R&B singer/songwriter best known for writing the hook to Waleâs 2013 hit âLoveHate Thingâ. He came to prominence as a member of Atlanta, Georgia-based band Cloudeater and appeared on their albums Sun and Sidearm (2011) and Purge (2013) before pursuing a career as a songwriter. While still a member of Cloudeater, his first foray as a songwriter for an outside artist was Waleâs 2011 single âLotus Flower Bombâ, which rose to Number 1 on Billboardâs R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart. Sam Dew wrote the hook to Waleâs 2013 hit âLoveHate Thingâ and co-wrote Skrillexâs 2014 single âStrangerâ. Sam Dew signed with RCA Records in 2015, releasing the Dave Sitek-produced EP Damn Sue that same year. He co-written songs for pop, R&B, and hip-hop artists including Rihanna, Mary J. Blige, Taylor Swift, Marsha Ambrosius, and Jessie Ware. In 2021, Sam Dew released his debut album, Moonlit Fools, which was followed by his acclaimed guest appearance on Kendrick Lamarâs âSaviorâ (with Baby Keem), which was taken from Kendrickâs album Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers.
