Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, American singer and guitarist Ryan Davis made his name in the late 2000s with the formation of State Champion, a country-punk band with whom he released five albums between 2007 and 2018. At the same time, he played in the Louisville alternative rock band Tropical Trash, and also took part in the destiny of Equipment Pointed Ankh, alongside Jim Marlowe (also in Tropical Trash). After the last State Champion album, the musician now based in Jeffersonville, Indiana, sought a new path and dabbled in recording a few tracks for a solo album, Dancing on the Edge (2023), which he credited to the name Ryan Davis & the Roadhouse Band. Released on the Sophomore Lounge label, the collection immediately aroused the interest of the specialist press and led to a follow-up entitled New Threats from the Soul, released in 2025.
