Biography

Before making his critically-acclaimed debut with 2015's A Stolen Jewel, the award-winning Americana singer Charley Crockett busked in New York City, drawing his first crowds on the streets and subways of Manhattan. Born on March 24, 1984, in San Benito, Texas, he was raised by descendants of frontiersman Davey Crockett and learned to play guitar as a teenager. A Stolen Jewel found him focusing on blues music, and Crockett won the accolade of 'Best Blues Act' at the influential Dallas Observer Music Awards. His follow-up album, In the Night, found him moving towards a more country-based Americana sound, and by the time Lonesome As a Shadow was released in 2018, Crockett's transformation into a full blown country singer was complete. 2019's The Valley, 2020's Welcome to Hard Times, and 2021's Music City USA all expanded his audience, and Crockett won "Emerging Artist of the Year" at the Americana Music Honors & Awards shortly after Music City USA's release. He was named "Musician of the Year" at the Austin Music Awards in 2022, the same year The Man from Waco was released. $10 Cowboy followed in 2024, reaching number 30 on the Top Country Albums chart and number 168 on the Billboard 200. In July 2024, Crockett released $10 Cowboy, Chapter II: Visions of Dallas, featuring six cover songs and six originals. Released under Island Records in March 2025, Lonesome Drifter was co-produced by Shooter Jennings.
