Ryan Castro, born Bryan David Castro Sosa on January 14, 1994, in Bello, Antioquia, Colombia, is a Colombian singer and rapper who grew up in MedellÃnâs Pedregal neighborhood and came up through freestyle, dancehall, and street-level performance. After singing on buses and performing in local bars and clubs, he began releasing music in the late 2010s, breaking through with âMorenaâ in 2017 and following with tracks such as âMiami,â âSecreto,â âTurista,â and âNunca Imaginéâ with Maycol Riddim in 2018. He continued in 2019 with âCampeónâ and âCositas al OÃdo,â then showed different sides of his style in 2020 with the trap-leaning â2 iPhonesâ with Cocaine Beatz and the R&B-flavored âLa Chica de Mis Sueñosâ with Emmanuel Rosin. Ryan Castroâs wider breakout came with âJordanâ in 2021, followed by the 2022 hit âMujeriego,â which reached European charts, and the EPs Reggaetonea and Los Piratas, the latter made with producer SOG. He sharpened his international profile through later singles including âMonasteryâ with Feid and âQuemaâ with Peso Pluma, before releasing his debut studio album, El Cantante del Ghetto, in 2024 via Sony Music Colombia. The album brought together reggaeton, dancehall, trap, and salsa touches, with guests including Arcángel, Yandel, SOG, Blessd, Zion, Myke Towers, Ãengo Flow, Peso Pluma, Rich the Kid, Totoy El FrÃo, and Coqe, while âPueblo de Medalloâ with Arcángel became one of its key tracks. In 2024, Ryan Castro and SOG also released âEl Ritmo Que Nos Une,â the official song of Colombiaâs national team for the Copa América. In 2025, he turned toward Caribbean sounds with SENDÃ, recorded in Curaçao and featuring collaborators such as Shaggy, Konshens, Jombriel, Tribal Kush, Blaiz Fayah, Dongo, and Peso Pluma, then deepened that direction with HOPI SENDÃ, a dancehall- and reggae-rooted album that included âLA VILLAâ with Kapo and Gangsta and âBa Ba Bad Remixâ with Kybba, Sean Paul, and Busy Signal. âLA VILLAâ carried into 2026 as a major hit, reaching Number 1 on Billboardâs Latin Airplay chart as well as the Billboard Colombia and Argentina rankings. That same year, Ryan Castro reunited with J Balvin for OMERTA, a 10-track joint album built around Colombian urbano, reggaeton, trap, hip-hop, and dancehall, with contributions from DJ Snake, Eladio Carrión, and SOG.
