Biography

Bryan Castro Sosa, who releases music under the stage name Ryan Castro, was born in Medellín on January 14, 1994. After discovering his rap talent as a teenager and later even starting to perform in local clubs and bars, the singer was on the verge of a breakthrough. This came in 2017 with the single "Morena," which finally made him famous in the Latin American reggaeton business. Titles such as " Miami," "Secreto," and "Turista" followed in 2018, ensuring that Sosa received even more public attention. Also in 2018, the artist released his first collaboration track, "Nunca Imagine" (feat. Maycol Riddim), before adding the two songs "Campeon " and "Cositas Al Oido" to his oeuvre in 2019. In 2020, Ryan Castro demonstrated his trap skills with "2 Iphones" (feat. Cocaine Beatz), while also proving his stature as an R&B singer on "La Chica de Mis Sueños" (feat. Emmanuel Rosin). After "Jordan" (2021), a song of praise for US basketball star Michael Jordan, Ryan Castro achieved commercial success on the European stage in 2022: "Mujeriego" even reached number 35 in the Swiss charts. He released the EPs Reggaetonea and Los Piratas in 2022 before dropping his highly anticipated studio debut El Cantante del Ghetto. Featuring guest spots by Arcángel, Yandel, SOG, Blessd, Zion, Jowell & Randy, Peso Pluma, and many more, the album arrived in 2024 via Sony Music Colombia. The single "Pueblo de Medallo," recorded in collaboration with Arcángel, peaked at number 13 on the Colombian Billboard charts. He confirmed his growing global presence with the 2024 single “El Ritmo Que Nos Une,” featuring Colombia’s national football team and landing on major playlists, then followed in January 2025 with his vibrant second album SENDÉ, which embraces reggae, dancehall, and island-infused rhythms—highlighted by collaborations with Jombriel, Konshens, and Shaggy on tracks like “LOBA” and “EXCLUSIVA.” Later in 2025, Ryan Castro kept leaning into the Caribbean thread on his follow-up album HOPI SENDÉ (2025), a dancehall- and reggae-rooted project that includes the Kapo collaboration “LA VILLA” and the global-facing “Ba Ba Bad Remix” with Kybba, Sean Paul, and Busy Signal.
