Biography

Rune Klakegg is a Norwegian jazz pianist and composer. He began his career performing and composing with bands such as Cutting Edge, Søyr, Fuzzy Logic, and Out to Lunch. In 1986, he formed the Rune Klakegg Trio with Frank Jakobsen on drums and Olaf Kamfjord on bass, releasing their debut album Anaerobics in 1992; the trio later featured Edvard Askeland on bass and Helge Nordbakken on drums. Klakegg has collaborated widely, contributing to recordings by artists including Espen Rud, Susanne Fuhr, Morten Halle, Guttorm Guttormsen, and Bjørn Kjellemyr. He has also composed music to texts by the poet Jacob Sande, released on the album Sundslegen, Herja Og Naken (2006). In 1995, he was awarded the NOPA “Work of the Year” prize for his composition "Pamplemousse."
