Roger Kleier (born 1958) is an American composer, guitarist, improviser, and producer from Glendale, California. Kleier studied composition at the University of North Texas College of Music and the USC Thornton School of Music. His musical style utilizes extended techniques and digital technology, incorporating elements of improvisation, contemporary classical music, blues, jazz, and rock. Kleier recorded three solo albums: KlangenBang, Deep Night, Deep Autumn (2001), and The Night Has Many Hours. He performed and recorded with artists including Annie Gosfield, Marc Ribotâs Shrek, Elliott Sharp, Fred Frith, and Laurie Anderson. Kleier served as a guest lecturer at the California Institute of the Arts and Mills College, where he was the composer-in-residence for the Center for Contemporary Music. His work received support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Rockefeller Foundation, and the McKnight Foundation. Kleier lives in New York City.
