Biography

R. J.'s Latest Arrival is an American R&B, dance, and soul music band from Detroit, Michigan, formed in the late 1970s. They released their debut self-titled album R.J.'s Latest Arrival in 1979. They gained significant traction in the mid-1980s with hits such as "Shackles" (1984) from their album Harmony (1984), which featured on the US Billboard R&B chart. Drummer Rudy "Famous" Maldonado left the band during The Shackles Tour in 1984, although he was featured in the video for the follow-up single "Harmony". Their biggest hit single "Off The Hook (With Your Love)" was released in 1988. Throughout the decade, they scored other moderate hits on the US Billboard R&B chart. They disbanded in 1990 but reunited in 2023 for a new song called "One Step at a Time" (2023) featuring Slum Village.
