Biography

Renzo Ruggieri, born in 1965 in Roseto degli Abruzzi, Italy, is a notable accordionist in contemporary jazz. He studied standard accordion under Aldo Rampa and chromatic button accordion with Vittorio Pomante, and furthered his education at the CPM in Milan with Franco D’Andrea, also attending courses with Frank Marocco, Adriano Mazzoletti, Richard Galliano, and Umberto Fiorentino. Ruggieri's career includes albums such as Bends (2007), Terre (2008), Valentino è Tango (2015), and Inni d’Italia (2013). He has performed on prestigious stages worldwide, including the Arena di Verona, the Shanghai Grand Theatre, the Ariston Theatre in Sanremo, and the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza. His accolades include the Voce d'Oro award at the International Accordion Festival in Castelfidardo in 2009 and the Orpheus Award for his albums Inni d’Italia and Collection.
