Renée Elise Goldsberry, born Januaryâ¯2,â¯1971 in Sanâ¯Jose,â¯California, is an American singer and actress who began her artistic training at Carnegieâ¯Mellon University and later earned a Master of Music in jazz studies from the University of Southernâ¯California. Her early career featured the 2001 album Everythingâ¯Butâ¯theâ¯Kitchenâ¯Sink and 2006 EP Beautiful, establishing her as a jazz vocalist. In 2015, Goldsberry landed the role of Angelica Schuyler in LinâManuelâ¯Mirandaâs Broadway musical Hamilton, a performance that earned her a 2016 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical and contributed to the cast albumâs 2016 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. She later released the studio album Whoâ¯Iâ¯Reallyâ¯Am in 2025, continuing her exploration of pop and jazz influences. Goldsberryâs television work includes recurring roles on The Good Wife and the Netflix series Girls5eva, for which she received Critics' Choice Television Award nominations in 2022 and 2023.
