Renée Elise Goldsberry, born Januaryâ¯2,â¯1971 in Sanâ¯Jose,â¯California, is an American singer and actress who began her artistic training at Carnegieâ¯Mellon University and later earned a Master of Music in jazz studies from the University of Southernâ¯California. Her early career featured the 2001 album Everythingâ¯Butâ¯theâ¯Kitchenâ¯Sink and 2006 EP Beautiful, establishing her as a jazz vocalist. In 2015, Goldsberry landed the role of Angelica Schuyler in LinâManuelâ¯Mirandaâs Broadway musical Hamilton, a performance that earned her a 2016 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical and contributed to the cast albumâs 2016 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.
