Biography

Reel 2 Real was founded in New York in the early 1990s. The project emerged from the US house and dance scene. The central figure is producer Erick Morillo. The frontman is the Jamaican-American MC The Mad Stuntman. Reel 2 Real is conceived as a studio project and works with changing voices and DJs. The project is considered part of the international club music development of the 1990s. Reel 2 Real began its first successful club releases in 1993. The style combines house, reggae dancehall and Latin influences. The album I Like to Move It was released in 1994. The album is released internationally and shapes the commercial dance music of the time. The single of the same name, "I Like to Move It", reaches high chart positions in several countries, including top 10 positions in Europe and a strong response in the USA. Other well-known singles are "Go on Move" and "Can You Feel It?". The album Move It! followed in 1996 with further club tracks and remixes. The releases are mainly released in the US club charts and international dance rankings. Erick Morillo was honored with the DJ Awards Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.
