Raymond Lynch, born July 3, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah, was an American guitarist, lutenist, keyboardist, and composer. He began studying piano at age six and later pursued classical guitar under Eduardo Sainz de la Maza. In the late 1960s, Lynch performed on the lute with the Renaissance Quartette in New York before moving to California and incorporating electronic music elements into his compositions. His breakthrough came with the release of Deep Breakfast in 1984, which included the single "Celestial Soda Pop." This album was certified Gold by the RIAA in April 1989. Lynch's subsequent albums, including The Sky of Mind (1983) and No Blue Thing (1989), also achieved success, with the latter topping Billboard's New Age album chart in 1989. He won Billboard's Top New Age Artist awards in both 1989 and 1990.
