Biography

Cusco, a German new age band named after the Peruvian city of Cusco, was formed in 1979 by Michael Holm and Kristian Schultze. The duo's music blended electronic lounge, new age, and world rhythms, with a particular emphasis on indigenous Mesoamerican and Inca influences. Their debut album Desert Island was released in 1980 and achieved significant success in Japan and Korea. Notable albums include Apurimac (1984), and Concierto De Aranjuez (1986). Their music was frequently used as background music, including Epcot's IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth and the radio program Coast to Coast AM. Cusco received three Grammy nominations throughout their career. Schultze passed away in 2011.
