Biography

Eric Tingstad, born in 1954 in Seattle, Washington, is an American composer and songwriter. Influenced by early rock acts like The Beatles and classical guitar techniques pioneered by Andrés Segovia, Tingstad began his musical journey playing lead guitar and bass with the Seattle-based rock band Pegasus. Tingstad's solo recording career started in 1982 with On the Links. His breakthrough came in 1985 with The Gift, a collaboration with Nancy Rumbel that sold over half a million copies. In 1987, Tingstad signed with Narada Productions, releasing multiple albums including Woodlands (1987) and American Acoustic (1998), which debuted at Number 1 on Adult Contemporary charts. Notable achievements include winning a Grammy Award for Best New Age Album in 2003 for Acoustic Garden, and a nomination for his 2007 album Southwest.
