Biography

Raw Silk was an American dance band originating in New York, formed by two members of Crown Heights Affair, Ron Dean Miller and Bert Reid, along with female vocalists Jessica Cleaves, Tenita Jordan, and Sybil Thomas. The group signed to West End Records, a popular garage label, where they recorded songs that became moderate hits. Their breakthrough came with the 1982 release of "Do It To The Music", which reached number five on the US Billboard Dance Club Songs chart and number 18 on the UK Singles Chart. This track was remixed by post-disco/R&B production duo Nick Martinelli and David Todd. Their subsequent single "Just In Time" peaked at number 40 on the US Billboard Dance Club Songs chart in 1983. Despite these achievements, the band disbanded later that year.
