Biography

Gregory Shorter Jr., known professionally as Ras G, was an American record producer and DJ born on December 11, 1978, in Los Angeles, California. Shorter began his career in 2005 with the release of the split EP Day & Night. In 2006, he released the EP Beats of Mind. Ras G co-founded Poo-Bah Records and was associated with Brainfeeder. His prolific career saw the release of numerous albums, including Ghetto Sci-Fi (2008), I of the Cosmos (2008), Brotha from Anotha Planet (2009), Down 2 Earth (2011), and Back on the Planet (2013). He collaborated extensively with various artists, producing notable tracks such as "The Rhythm" by Dwight Trible & The Life Force Trio. Ras G passed away on July 29, 2019, in the Leimert Park neighborhood of Los Angeles at the age of 40.
