OjÄrs Raimonds Pauls is a Latvian composer and pianist from Riga, Latvia. He started piano lessons after being deemed too young for violin training, and by the age of 14, he performed in restaurants and clubs. His compositions were performed by notable singers such as Alla Pugacheva and Valery Leontyev. He released albums including Tev, mana labÄ (1969), Tik dzintars vien (1970), and Teic, kur zeme tÄ (1971), and wrote songs such as "Zilie lini". He composed music for films, including The Devil's Servants and Double Trap, musicals like MÄsa Kerija (1978), and ballets such as Kubas melodijas (1963). He received the Order of the Three Stars and the Order of Honour.
