Biography
R2Bees, a Ghanaian hip hop duo from Tema, was formed in 2007 and consists of cousins Faisal Hakeem and Rashid Mugeez. Their initial breakthrough came with the release of their first single "Yawa Gal" in August 2008, followed by "I Dey Mad", which topped Ghanaian radio charts. In 2009, they released their debut album Da Revolution, featuring collaborations with Wande Coal and Sarkodie. Their second studio album, Refuse To Be Broke â Da Revolution II, was released in March 2013, with notable appearances from Wizkid and Davido. R2Bees have been recognized for their contributions to the hiplife genre, which blends rap with highlife and reggae sounds. They were featured in Forbes' list of "African celebrities to watch in 2013" and have performed alongside international artists such as Mario and J Holiday. Their subsequent albums include Site 15 (March 2019) and Back 2 Basics (2021). In 2026, their track "Over" reaached number 7 on the UK's Afrobeats Songs chart.
