Biography

P-Type, born Kang Jin‑pil on 16 December 1979 in Seoul, is a South Korean rapper who began his career as an underground artist in the 1990s. After honing his craft in local cyphers, he released his debut studio album Heavy Bass on 31 May 2004 under Foundation Records, followed by The Vintage on 27 November 2008 with Loen Entertainment, and RAP on 29 July 2013 through Brand New Music. In 2015 he entered the mainstream spotlight by competing on Show Me the Money 4, releasing the single "Birdman" on 6 July 2015, and later appearing on Show Me the Money 6 in 2017, which broadened his audience. In 2022, he released an album Hardboiled Café. Throughout his career he collaborated with K‑pop artists and performed on domestic tours. His work earned chart placements in Korea, with "Birdman" entering the top 20 of the Gaon Digital Chart. P‑Type continues to contribute to the Korean rap scene through new releases and collaborations.
