Biography

Przemysław Adam Gintrowski, born on December 21, 1951, in Poland, was a Polish musician and singer. He debuted in 1976 at a song contest in Warsaw with "Epitafio para Sergei Esenin." In 1979, he formed a trio with Jacek Kaczmarski and Zbigniew Łapiński, launching the poetic program Mury ("The Walls"), which included the title track "Mury," based on Lluís Llach's "L’Estaca" and became an anthem for the Solidarity movement. The trio disbanded in 1981 due to martial law. Gintrowski then focused on composing music for films and television series, creating scores for over twenty movies during the next decade. In 2006, he was awarded the Order of Polonia Restituta by President Lech Kaczyński. He passed away on October 20, 2012, at the age of 60 due to lung cancer.
