Maurice Joseph Francois Engelen, known professionally as Praga Khan, was born on January 7, 1959, in Belgium. He began his career in electronic music in 1987 with the single "Blow Job" under the name Musical Reporters, collaborating with Chris Inger and Harry Van Oeckel. Throughout the late 1980s, Engelen launched several new beat projects, including M.N.O., which featured Nikkie Van Lierop Jade 4U and Oliver Adams. His breakthrough came with the single "Injected With a Poison" under the Praga Khan moniker, which topped charts in both England and Japan. He also formed Lords of Acid, known for their explicit lyrics and significant impact on electronic music. The group toured extensively, playing major festivals like Glastonbury and Rock Werchter, and contributed to film and video game soundtracks such as Basic Instinct and Mortal Kombat. In the 2000s, Praga Khan released notable albums including Pragamatic, Twenty First Century Skin, and Mutant Funk, which featured hits like "The Power of the Flower" and "Love". He also composed soundtracks for films such as Falling and Ben X. Engelen's work extended to theatrical tours, including Frame By Frame - When Art Meets Technology, which combined dance, illusionism, and technology. In 2010, Lords of Acid reunited for the Sextreme Ball tour with My Life with The Thrill Kill Kult.
