Moriah Rose Pereira, born 1â¯Januaryâ¯1995 in Boston, Massachusetts, is an American singer whose career began with YouTube performanceâart videos that introduced her androidâstyled persona. After signing with Island Records in 2014, she released the single "Everybody Wants to Be Poppy" (2015) and the EP Bubblebath (2016). Pereira transitioned to a fullâlength debut, Poppy.Computer (2017), under Madâ¯Decent, followed by Amâ¯Iâ¯aâ¯Girl? (2018) on Sumerian Records, which explored gender themes. Her third studio album, Iâ¯Disagree (2020), shifted toward heavy metal and industrial rock; the single "Bloodmoney" earned her the first solo female nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance on 10â¯Novemberâ¯2020. Subsequent releases include Flux (2021), Zig (2023), and Negativeâ¯Spaces (2024), the latter featuring the single "Newâ¯Wayâ¯Out" (4â¯Juneâ¯2024). Pereira has collaborated with artists such as Badâ¯Omens on "V.A.N" (Januaryâ¯2024) and Knockedâ¯Loose on "Suffocate" (Aprilâ¯2024), the latter nominated for a Grammy in the same category. The album Emptyâ¯Hands was released in Januaryâ¯of 2026 and featured the single "Guardian" continuing Poppy on her alternative metal path. She has toured extensively, including the 2022 Never Find My Place tour and the 2023 Godless/Goddess tour with Pvris.
